Hi everyone. I came to know that keratoconus is genetic. Actually, I was suffering from severe keratoconus for both of my eyes and have been using GP lenses for last 15 years. Recently, my kid who is 10 years old was advised to wear eyeglasses with a spherical power of -1.25 D and .5 D cylindrical for left and right eyes respectively. I am afraid whether this is a beginning for keratoconus? I asked this doubt to my eye doctor but he was not able to explain it. So I am planning to take him to a keratoconus treatment from a clinic in Toronto. Is there a need for eye surgery? But I don't know the minimum age at which the crosslinking can be done. Is there any other treatment that crosslinking? What if the Keratoconus is not treated? I heard that as the patient becomes older the effect of keratoconus reduces. Is that true? Please help me out!
